An innovative model of social co-housing, territorial regeneration and the protection of human rights.
Villaggio della Memoria, della Pace e della Solidarietà
A community that cares for those who devoted their lives to others
The Nuova Vita Foundation – Third Sector Entity was born from the conviction that a democratic society is also measured by its capacity to care for the people who helped build freedom, justice and peace.
For decades, women and men devoted their lives to defending human rights, human dignity and the self-determination of peoples. Many of them experienced exile, persecution, the loss of family, separation from their homeland and the renunciation of a stable personal life.
Today these same people face a new form of fragility: ageing, loneliness, the progressive loss of autonomy and the absence of a family and social network able to accompany them through the most delicate phase of life.
The project "Nuova Vita – Villaggio della Memoria, della Pace e della Solidarietà" was created to offer a concrete answer to this need.
The aim is to build a social co-housing facility capable of guaranteeing a dignified, safe and participatory life, where caring for the person becomes an integral part of a broader project of social inclusion, transmission of memory, territorial regeneration and promotion of a culture of peace.
The project goes beyond the traditional concept of a care institution. The Nuova Vita Project is not a retirement home but a community of life, in which residents continue to be protagonists of society, sharing their experiences, skills and values with citizens, young people, schools, universities, researchers, volunteers and visitors from all over the world.
The initiative rests on five strategic pillars:
1. Care for the person
To provide residents with assistance, safety, accessibility and psychophysical wellbeing through a barrier-free environment, social and health services, and a community able to counter loneliness.
2. Memory and human rights
To preserve the human, cultural and historical heritage of those welcomed, turning their experiences into instruments of civic education, intercultural dialogue and the promotion of peace.
3. Territorial regeneration
To recover buildings and spaces now unused in inland areas, transforming them into places of social innovation, culture and sustainable development, contributing to the revitalisation of these territories.
4. Social economy and sustainability
To complement care activities with initiatives in ethical tourism, social agriculture, responsible hospitality, training and cultural events, generating economic resources capable of sustaining the project over the long term.
5. Community and participation
To encourage encounters between different generations and cultures, involving citizens, associations, local authorities, schools and universities in building an open, supportive and inclusive community.
An innovative response to contemporary social challenges
Italy is undergoing a profound demographic transformation marked by a growing elderly population, the spread of loneliness and the weakening of traditional family networks.
At the same time, many inland areas suffer from depopulation, the loss of services and the progressive abandonment of their building stock.
The project aims to connect these two phenomena, turning a social problem into an opportunity for development.
Through the recovery of a building destined for social co-housing, the Foundation proposes a replicable model capable of generating benefits for the residents, for the territory and for the local community.

A vision for the future
"Nuova Vita" aims to become a permanent laboratory of social innovation, in which care for people, collective memory and the regeneration of territories come together in a single model of development.
The Foundation's ambition is not only to offer a home to those who need one, but to build a community capable of generating relationships, culture, solidarity and hope.
Investing in this project means contributing to the birth of a place where dignity, human rights, sustainability and participation form the foundations of a new model of community welfare, open to the territory and oriented towards the common good.
